247-room Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh debuts as largest international hotel in the city
Hyatt is blazing new ground in Southeast Asia with the opening of Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh on January 6, 2021, marking the first Hyatt hotel in the Cambodian capital and the debut of the Hyatt Regency brand in the Kingdom of Wonder.
With 247 guestrooms including 43 residential-style suites, the new Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh is set to become the largest internationally branded hotel in the city. Located in the heart of Phnom Penh’s cultural and business district of Doun Penh – a 30-minute drive from the airport and within a short walking distance to the Royal Palace, National Museum and the riverside – the latest addition from Hyatt provides business travelers and leisure guests with modern comfort and convenience alongside warm Cambodian hospitality in one of Asia’s most captivating cities.
“We are excited to open our doors and introduce the Hyatt Regency brand to Cambodia, supporting the country’s hospitality industry as well as reinforcing Hyatt’s steady and thoughtful growth in Southeast Asia,” said Herman Kemp, general manager, Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh. “We look forward to welcoming business and leisure guests to an energizing new space where they can recharge, discover locally inspired culinary experiences and stay connected during a stress-free travel experience, all delivered with the warm comfort of Cambodian hospitality.”
Design and Guestrooms
Conceived by award-winning Singapore-based SCDA Architects and leading Thailand-based PIA Interior, the contemporary-meets-colonial interiors of the hotel reflect Cambodia’s unique history, seamlessly blending Khmer architectural accents, French colonial influences, and specially-commissioned artworks by contemporary Cambodian artist, FONKi.
As guests pull into the hotel’s driveway, they are greeted with a welcoming centerpiece: a beautiful French heritage building flanked by sweet-smelling frangipani trees. Originally built as a colonial villa in the early 20th century, the carefully restored lemon-colored Colonial House with its wooden shutters, arched doorways and terracotta-tiled roof now serves as the hotel’s entrance, providing guests with a nostalgic arrival experience.
Behind the Colonial House sits the newly-constructed 14-story main building, featuring 247 guestrooms, including 43 suites, all with hardwood floors and marble bathrooms. Starting from 328 square feet (30.5 square meters) for a standard room, the guestrooms balance modern comforts, such as complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, 65” TVs, Staycast powered by Google Chromecast systems and walk-in rainshowers, with distinct Khmer touches including an intricately carved headboard depicting Bayon Temple, one of the most celebrated temples at Angkor. Each room is also equipped with the Hyatt Mobile Entry technology, enabling guests to use their smartphone in lieu of a room key card. The 1087 square feet (101 square meters) Royal Suite features two ensuite bedrooms, a walk-in closet, a powder room, separate living and dining areas, a pantry, and floor-to-ceiling views to take in the city views.
Guests staying on level 10 and above can access the Regency Club Lounge. Privileges include exclusive check-in and check-out services as well as daily breakfast, evening canapés and complimentary drinks alongside panoramic city views with the choice of indoor or outdoor seating.
Drinking and Dining
Guests will have a choice of five dining venues, including Market Café Restaurant & Lounge, an inviting all-day dining concept inside a light-filled atrium serving buffet breakfast, afternoon tea and à la carte options; Metropole Underground, an early 20th century metro-themed bar offering live music and local beers; and an old-world speakeasy-style bar tucked away in the eaves of the Colonial House called The Attic, specializing in handcrafted cocktails and grand cru wines. The hotel’s social hotspot, however, is FiveFive Rooftop Restaurant & Bar, an open-plan dining setting spanning the rooftop on level 14 that boasts live DJ performances. From here, guests will be treated to fresh sustainable seafood, locally-sourced meats and produce, as well as refreshing cocktails whilst soaking up breathtaking views of the Royal Palace, the Mekong River and the city skyline.
Meetings and Events
Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh will feature 1400 square meters of meeting and event space to host business conferences and social gatherings. The Regency Ballroom can accommodate up to 490 guests and boasts floor-to-ceiling windows as well as the only built-in full-color LED screen in the city. Meanwhile, nine meeting suites and social spaces provide flexible arrangements – from a boardroom for 14 people to a reception space for 200 guests. Additionally, The Poolhouse features an outdoor barbecue area and an open terrace, accommodating up to 70 guests. Most venues offer natural sunlight and come with the latest audio-visual facilities such as smart LED televisions, high-definition video conferencing suites and wireless internet.
Wellbeing and Recreation
A wide range of recreational facilities are located on level 3, including the hotel’s 22-meter outdoor infinity pool surrounded by lush greenery, a poolside bar, a Himalayan salt room and a steam room. The 24-hour gym is equipped with a cardio zone, strength zone, and free weights. Personal trainers are also on hand to offer one-on-one sessions at the request of guests.
The hotel’s spa, Jivapita which in Sanskrit means ‘restored to life’, offers a range of body and facial treatments including a signature 60 or 90-minute ‘Khmer Indigenous Therapy’ massage where skilled therapists employ traditional Khmer massage techniques to soothe aching limbs, improve circulation and restore vitality. For a pampering treatment, guests may opt for a 90-minute ‘Lumafirm® Lift & Glow’ facial by skincare brand Pevonia Botanica that uses the latest in freeze-dried technology.

Guided by its purpose of care, Hyatt’s multi-layered Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment further enhances its operational guidance and resources around staff and guest safety and peace of mind. This includes:
